What a sloth plush is actually like
The sloth's selling feature is functional: long arms with hook-and-loop or magnetic paws that let it hang from a cot rail, bag strap, curtain rod or car headrest. That gives it a use case most plush do not have.
The trade-off is stress on the arm seams. Every time it is hung by the paws, the shoulder seam takes the full weight, so reinforced shoulders matter more here than fur quality.
Sizes you will actually find

Giant & XXL versions
Giant sloths are usually long-armed hanging versions up to about 24 inches of body plus arms. A true giant sloth is heavy enough that hanging it becomes a bad idea.

Gift notes
- Good for a teen — the "slow and unbothered" framing lands well.
- Hanging versions work as pram, cot-rail or backpack companions.
- Weighted sloths use the long arms well across shoulders.
Care & washing
- Close the hook-and-loop paws before washing so they do not catch the fur.
- Cold gentle cycle in a pillowcase; air dry hanging by the body, not the arms.
- Check the shoulder seams periodically if it is hung often.
Sloth plush questions
How do hanging sloth plush attach?
Most use hook-and-loop pads inside the paws; some newer ones use magnets. Magnets are neater but should not be used around very young children.
Do sloth plush arms tear?
The shoulder seams are the weak point when it is hung by the paws regularly. Reinforced or gusseted shoulders last much longer.
Are sloth plush good for babies?
Hanging versions are useful on a pram or cot rail, but keep magnets and long limbs out of the sleep space.
