What this site is
Little Stuffed Animals is a reference guide to stuffed animals. It started from a simple frustration: when you go looking for a specific plush — a capybara, a weighted bear, a Jellycat in the right size — the information is scattered across product listings that disagree with each other, forum threads from six years ago, and retailer pages that describe a 12-inch toy as "giant."
So this is the boring, useful version. Every animal and character in the guide gets the same treatment: the sizes it is actually produced in, the makers who produce it, what it costs at each tier, how to wash it without wrecking it, and whether it is a sensible gift for the person you have in mind.
The guide currently covers 36 animals, 17 licensed characters and 17 topic guides on weighted plush, storage, care, repair and custom commissions.
Where the information comes from
Nothing here is scraped and republished automatically. Each entry is compiled by hand from a small number of sources, cross-checked against each other before it goes live:
- Manufacturer and brand documentation — official size charts, material specifications, stated fill weights and care labels published by the makers themselves. This is the primary source wherever it exists.
- Retailer product listings — used to establish what sizes are genuinely in production and what the realistic price range is at each tier, rather than what a catalogue claims.
- Published safety guidance — for the age and weight recommendations on weighted plush, we follow the guidance issued by consumer product safety regulators and paediatric sleep organisations rather than inventing our own thresholds.
- Hands-on observation — washing, drying, measuring and repairing plush ourselves, which is the only way to catch the gap between what a care label says and what actually happens.
How we handle what we do not know
Plush manufacturing is inconsistent. The same character is made by different licensees in different regions, sizes get quietly discontinued, and two listings for the "same" 16-inch bear can differ by an inch and a half. Where a figure varies, the guide gives a range rather than inventing false precision.
The weighted-plush weights are the clearest example. We publish the widely used ten-percent-of-body-weight starting point, but we present it as a starting point with a safety floor, not a medical prescription. Weighted items are not suitable for children under three, and no calculator on this site will tell you otherwise.

How the site pays for itself
This site is free to read and carries advertising, served through Google AdSense. Ads are labelled and kept out of the way of the content; they do not influence which brands or products get written about, and no maker has paid to appear in the guide.

Editorial independence
We name specific brands throughout the guide because a reference that refuses to name anything is useless. Those mentions are editorial. Where a brand is genuinely good at something — a particular size range, a fabric, a repair policy — we say so, and where it is not, we say that too.
