What a duck plush is actually like
Duck plush are mostly rounded, legless bodies with a flat felt bill, which makes them one of the cheapest shapes to produce well. The interesting variable is the bill: felt bills stay flat, foam-backed bills keep a three-dimensional shape.
Yellow ducklings dominate, but mallard-style green-headed ducks are a small, steady niche and read as more grown-up.
Sizes you will actually find
Duck plush are commonly produced up to 10–16 in.
Small / pocket
6–10 in
15–25 cm
Bag-clip and palm sizes. Best for travel, party favours and toddlers who lose things.
Medium / classic
10–16 in
25–40 cm
The default plush size and the one most brands photograph. Fits under an arm at bedtime.
Giant & XXL versions
Ducks are rarely made above 16 inches. If you want a large one, look for "jumbo duckling" pillow shapes rather than a scaled-up standing duck.

Gift notes
- Works for a bath or pond-themed nursery where a bear would look out of place.
- Small ducks are a good stocking or party-favour size.
- Heatable ducks are popular as a small desk-and-neck warmer.
Care & washing
- Machine wash cold in a bag; ducks tolerate it well because they have few parts.
- Do not soak a foam-backed bill — spot clean it instead.
- Air dry standing upright so the body keeps its round shape.
Duck plush questions
Is a duck plush good for a newborn?
Yes — few seams, no limbs to pull off, and easy to wash. Check that the bill is stitched rather than glued.
Why do duck plush bills go floppy?
Single-layer felt bills soften with handling and washing. Foam or interlined bills hold their shape much longer.
Are there large duck plush?
Not many. Above 16 inches the market moves to duck-shaped cushions and body pillows rather than plush toys.
