What a cow plush is actually like

The standard cow plush is a Holstein: white with irregular black patches. Because the patches are usually separate fabric panels, cows have more seams than most farm animals and the patch edges are where wear shows first.

Brown Jersey-style cows are the quieter alternative and blend into a neutral nursery better than high-contrast Holsteins.

Cow plush questions

What is the difference between a cow and a Highland cow plush?

A Highland cow has long ginger fur covering its eyes and curved horns; a standard cow plush has short fur, visible eyes and small horns or none. They are bought for very different reasons.

Do the black patches fade?

They can, especially on printed rather than panelled fabric. Keep it out of direct sunlight, which is more damaging than washing.

What size cow suits a nursery shelf?

Medium, 10–16 inches. Giant cows tend to end up on the floor, where the white sections get dirty quickly.
